Agenda: Discuss memoir rubric
Warm-up: One common type of figurative language is the simile. A simile makes a comparison between two unlike things, using like or as. As hot as an oven, as cold as ice, and ate like a pig are all examples of similes, although they are not very original ones.
Complete the similes below. Make them as interesting, unusual, or as surprising as you can. Just make sure they still make sense and give a clear image.
1.______________is as bright as a(n)____________
2.____________is as ____________ as a rabbit’s foot
3.______________is as miraculous as a(n)
4.like a(n)__________ after dark
5.like a(n) __________ in a downpour
