Homework and agenda:
HW reminders: Just focus on starting your independent work. I suggest making reading goals for yourself i.e. you will have 50 pages read in the next two weeks, half way complete by the end of September, etc. etc. Agenda: first and third blocks need to finish book talks. Write and discuss the following: What is literary merit? Look at your AP terms packet. Would you be able to apply them to your best seller? That is to say, could your best seller be studied in an AP class or college lit class? Why or why not? Notes and discussion of motif (in 6th and 7th--1st and 3rd will start with this next class) Agenda and homework:

Homework reminders: Sign the syllabus! Be sure to do this by Friday 8/26 (Blocks 1 and 3) or Monday 8/29 (blocks 6 and 7). Turn in your autobiography/letter by Friday 8/26 (blocks 1 and 3) or Monday 8/29 (blocks 6 and 7). Agenda: Go through syllabus, classroom stuff, semester overview, etc. Book talk criteria: Give us an overview of your book, why you chose it, it’s merits and pitfalls, would you recommend it? What is the central subject or subjects of your book? Try to sum it up in a word or phrase i.e. love, friendship, corrupt government, etc. Pre-writing assessment--write for 45 minutes--due at end of class Agenda and homework for today:
